Turquoise water. Powder white sands. Poolside hammocks. Beachside paella. People-watching and parasailing and iguanas sunning on the sidewalks. Endless ocean views and infinite starry nights. Mariachi bands at dinner. Sunsets bursting with color. Mezcal. Music. Mexico weddings forever and ever, please. ♥

Last month, I traveled to Playa Mujeres, the most beautiful oasis tucked away just north of Cancun for Stacy and Teddy's wedding in Mexico. And what a wedding it was! They saw each other for the first time on a rooftop overlooking the sea. They exchanged vows as their close friend Kate officiated. One of my favorite moments was when we all piled into the lobby- white marble with sky-high windows- right after the ceremony as their guests made their way upstairs. Everyone was bursting with happiness for Stacy and Teddy, and the love in that lobby was palpable. There were cigars and speeches and tequila shots and "Dancing Queen" and a dance floor to end all dance floors! So many beautiful parts to the best week in paradise.

But the best part was being reminded how truly special destination weddings really are. It's relatively easy to go to most weddings. You buy a gift, buy a dress, block off a Saturday night. But a destination wedding- in another country, no less!- is a big deal. It's booking flights. Vacation requests. Passports and seating assignments and early-morning Ubers to the airport. It's a big deal. And it's also pretty perfect for keeping the focus on what really matters- bringing the people you love together. There's something really special about eighty(!) people flying to Mexico to celebrate your marriage, and at the end of the week, you've truly brought your village together in a way that words just can't convey. What's lovelier than that?
